The first few weeks in your new apartment are an exciting time. Decorating it, and getting things the way you like them will keep you somewhat occupied! Buying furniture is a major step, but thanks to the internet you can do most, or all of it, without leaving your apartment. For instance, I found this beautiful Oak Wardrobe the other day online and it fitted perfectly.

Browsing online gives you a quick, economical way to get an overview of what is available. Also, you don’t have the bother of a salesman following you around. Print out on a copier or fax machine the prices and pictures of items you like, and put them in a folder.  You may want to visit some furniture stores in person to take a closer look at how the furniture is made or how the material feels to the touch.

Use your digital camera to capture several views of your apartment’s interior. It is easy to forget where a window or door is located, when you are out shopping for furniture. You can also use it to photograph furniture you are considering buying.

Take your folder with you so you can show the salesman what you like, and what they are charging for it on line. In many stores the salesman will try to match the online prices. If they can’t match the price, they may try to offer you another item at a discount.

When you are in a furniture store you may be made aware of certain bargains that were not advertised. They sometimes have items that have nothing wrong with them, but just didn’t sell. They can often be purchased at a substantial discount.

This is not to say a lot of accessories and other decor cannot be satisfactorily selected without seeing them in person. Things like clocks and lamps may not warrant seeing them in person before their purchase. Many sites will offer free shipping if you spends a certain amount. The items can be delivered to your door and you will not have spent a cent on transportation!

Shopping on line is a good way to select items you may have overlooked while out. It makes decorating less overwhelming when you know you can do it from your apartment. Your purchases can be stretched out over a longer time period making it less tempting to charge them to a credit card.
