I have been obsessed about blushes since the time I was a makeup disaster till date when I can fake the J’Lo glow. To many a single blusher would suffice a lifetime but for a makeup junkie like me, even a 100 are not enough. Choosing what blush to wear hence becomes one of the most important decisions of the day!
1. Stila Convertible Colour – This product is versatile as it can be used as a cream blush as long as a lip colour. It comes in a wide range of colours and my personal favourites are Gerbera and lillium. They make amazing bases for your powder blushers or if worn alone provide a gorgeous glow. They last much longer than powder blushers as well. Also they are more pigmented than lipsticks if worn on lips providing a lovely milky coverage. It’s best applied with a stippling brush. Definitely a keeper!
2. Laura Geller Blush and Brighten – I love the swirled marbelized colours in this duo. These are liquid pigments baked to give that perfect finish. On one side is a darker colour used as the main blush colour and the lighter side is slightly lighter for that luminous glow or highlight on the cheeks. Sweep the darker colour across the apples of your cheeks for that radiant flush and the lighter colour as a highlight on the cheek bone for that diva like glow.
3. Illamasqua Bronzer Duo – This one’s on the pricier side of the spectrum but totally worth it for its unique pearlised finish and the ultra fine texture. This is a bronzer but definitely can be substituted for peachy-brown blusher. The darker colour contours like a pro if swiped just below the cheek bones and the lighter colour is a lovely light peach made to flatter all skin tones. Just dust the lighter colour lightly with a fan brush on the cheekbones, nose and the chin. Overall, transforms you into a bronze goddess in minutes!
4. Mac powder blush – This is not my all time favourite as it’s a ‘hit or miss’ but I would definitely include it in my top 5 due to the variety of textures it has available, namely matte, sheertone, sheertone shimmer, satin and frost as well as the wide array of colours to suit women of all colour. There’s always something for everyone! They are brilliant in pigmentation and are likely to last you life time. Also you can keep these empty containers and recycle 6 in exchange for a free Mac product at their counters. For all these little perks it comes with, I believe they are reasonably priced and well worth the £16.
5. Lancome Blush Subtil – This is the most opaque and sheer powder blushes of them all. It has some gorgeous colours available in their range especially if you’re a fan of the ‘no makeup’ look. The have a sheer finish and glide like a dream. You can build them up gradually without any caking. A must have for every makeup kit as you can never go wrong with this blush. My favourite in this range is Miel Glace. It’s a tawny dusky pink – looks almost like a bronzed rose colour. Great for everyday looks without the worry of putting on too much. They do sell for a whopping £24 for 6 grams of product but I have to say it’s worth every penny ladies.
