Best Buggies for Baby

The UK is estimated to welcome 654,000 babies in 2010 alone. Now that’s a lot of babies..So for all of you expecting this year, here’s some information when searching for buggies for baby. Most first time mothers and fathers to be don’t know the difference between prams and pushchairs or strollers. A pram is a bassinet-style buggy in which babies are positioned laying down. Typically prams are for newborns. As soon as baby is able to sit up on his or her own, pushchairs are a more suitable buggy. In a pushchair, babies sit up on their own and face outward. Pushchairs and strollers are typically for toddlers.

2 in 1′s

Now that you know all that, what should you be looking for when searching for a quality pram or pushchair? Well, one of the most popular choices is a 2-in-1 pushchair. Since it’s impractical and expensive to buy a pram and a pushchair for one child in such a short amount of time, many buggy developers have come up with a 2-in-1 alternative that offers both a pram and a pushchair. Much like a Transformer, a 2-in-1 pushchair allows one to adjust and fold the pram and change it into a pushchair for when your newborn heads toward toddler-hood. There are also 2-in-1 pushchair and car seat combos. Amazing, I know.

Classic Silver Cross Prams & 3 Wheelers

If you want baby to make a grand entrance at every outing, classic silver cross prams and 3-wheel pushchairs are all the rage. Those classic prams, the ones that look like bassinet carriages, typically come with chrome finished, spoked wheels and every part of it looks posh. And when it comes to wheels, the bigger the better. Large, 3-wheel pushchairs are what all the trendy babies are riding. Ridiculous, I know, but true. Other positives attributed to large 3-wheel pushchairs other than obvious awesomeness is stability and handling. These buggies are designed to turn on a dime, to stay stable so as to not jostle a sleeping newborn and are supposedly easy to handle.

Light Weight Buggies

Another extremely important thing to consider when purchasing a pushchair or pram is how heavy it is. A heavy buggy can be extremely inconvenient to fold up and lug around when not in use. Chicco Liteway Strollers use ultra-light aluminium that keeps the pushchair light which can be extremely convenient when packing up the family for an outing or simply packing away the buggy for the day. Most Chicco strollers have a light weight aluminium design as do other pushchairs currently on the market. When purchasing your pram or pushchair, check to see if it’s made of aluminium because the element is not only lightweight but durable as well.

When choosing a buggy it’s all about practicality, simplicity, and comfortability for both you and baby. Hope these tips helped a bit in your search for the perfect buggy and congratulations on your new bundle of joy!

Did you know?

There are approximately 1,890 babies born every day in the UK. That’s a lot of baby love.

I had a 2 in 1 for mine but they were called pram pushchairs back then. It was great, usable from birth until about 18 months. It was also light and easy to get around with and easy to fold for cars and buses.
