If you have an entertainment system in your home, you know it didn’t come cheap. A basic entertainment system generally consists of a telly and a DVD player. A friend of mine just recently bought an LCD TV, took it home, and suddenly realized he didn’t have a DVD player to watch films on his new telly. After spending such a substantial amount of money however, most of us are a bit wary of buying yet another expensive electronic to go with a brand new TV. Such was the case with him.

Many stores and manufacturers are keen on the fact that most customers buying a telly don’t want to pay for a DVD player as well and set up deals where the DVD player comes free. Generally, DVD players that come for free with new tellies are rubbish. They’re usually the stores overstock supply of DVD players that no one wanted to purchase in the first place. If you’re looking to buy a new telly and would like to avoid the expense of buying a DVD player as well, combi TVs are right for you.

Combi TVs are tellies that are typically combined with a DVD player. It’s a single unit–usually it’s a DVD LCD Combi TV–and the benefits are numerous. For one, there’s no hassle and complication of having to hook up a separate DVD player, configure it, set it up and have it work with your TV. There are no extra wires that have to be plugged into the wall or telly, there are no complicated instruction manuals to glean over, and no time wasted figuring everything out. It’s as simple as plug and play.

Another benefit is that it’s a space saver. You won’t have to worry about where to place yet another electronic device. And it saves you money because a combi TV offers a quality DVD at a lower cost. Sure, it may be cheaper to find a “buy this telly, this DVD comes free” sort of deal, but the DVD player you’ll be likely to get may not last for as long as you think. In the long run, a combi TV saves you time, money, space and the hassle that’s inherent with buying new electronics and hooking them up.
