With all the media fuss out there, you may already be aware of the differences between Mac’s and PC’s and the pros and cons that come with both. While PC’s enjoy a larger chunk of the computer market, Mac’s have remained incredibly popular on a different level. Young, hip trendsters are often seen toting around Mac books and with good reason. Apple is renowned for making revolutionary products that mould the industry their in. take for instance the iPhone. Before it came out, touch screen phones were few and far between. Now, stores are littered with iPhone imposters that don’t seem to do the trick. Or for example, the iPod.  MP3 players exploded onto the scene after the advent of the Apple iPod. It was the first to feature the ground-breaking circular touch interface and companies scrambled to make their own, and again to no avail. The quality of Apple’s technology hasn’t been beat yet and that has contributed to their rapid rise in the market.

Even Achilles had a weakness, though. Apple’s biggest downfall are their price points. Being innovative, ground-breaking and trendsetting definitely costs money. At the same price, you can usually find a PC that has twice the amount of RAM, storage and processing power. Why, then do people opt for Macs? For one, because PCs dominate the market, 98% of all viruses are made for PCs and are rendered ineffective on Macs. Macs also have video and music software that are state of the art and high quality. It is for this reason that most Apple aficionados opt for a Mac over a PC. If you are a film maker, a musician, a photographer or just any one who likes to make videos, take pictures or make music, Macs offer software that can’t be beat and a MacBook Pro will definitely offer you more than a PC is you’re planning on using your notebook for those types of things. Lastly, people sometimes choose Macs over PCs just because it looks much more stylish.

The new Apple MacBook Pro notebook is an example of Apple’s ground-breaking and unique design in the field of notebooks. The first unique feature is that the notebook is encased in an aluminium unibody enclosure. The aluminium keeps the notebook durable and light, and the unibody enclosure simply means that the entire case is made from just one piece. What that implies is that there are no outer parts that can be removed, replaced or parts that can break or come loose. This makes the notebook even more lighter, thinner and much more durable.

You may have already noticed that MacBooks tend to display much more vibrant colours and images than regular laptops. The reason is that regular laptops use LCD screens that require a bit more space, use a bit more energy and takes a bit longer to warm up and reach its fullest brightness. The Macbook’s trackpad is the newest ground-breaking feature. The trackpad is devoid of all buttons–it’s simply a rectangular flat surface. How do you click then? You simply apply pressure directly onto the trackpad. The flat surface of the trackpad itself is the entire mouse. This means that there’s much more space to use to track. It also won the EPEAT Gold status, which is the highest standard for environmental performance in the electronics industry. The new MacBook pro is also shipped out using 41% less packaging than it’s previous generation. That means less gas used for transportation and less trees used for packaging.

Battery life is yet another ground breaking development within the new MacBook Pro. The battery lasts an outstanding 7 hours compared to a typical notebook at 2 hours. The battery itself can be recharged up to 1000 times compared to a typical laptop battery that can be recharged a maximum of 300 times before it dies completely. MacBook Pro’s battery also lasts 5 years where a typical battery lasts around two years. Less waste and consumption makes the battery eco friendly as well.

And again, if you’re planning on using a notebook to do film or video editing, music or photography, a MacBook cannot be beat. As a testament to their high quality software, their technology is used as industry standards in films, music and photography. So if you’re interested in those things a MacBook is definitely for you. If not, you should know that you can get a PC for twice the storage and performance power at the same price. Sure, it won’t come with all the fancy features I’ve listed above, but it’ll get the job done.
