5 Tips on how to have a Home Spa Day

ladies slippersWork can be very stressful and exhausting and sometimes you need to get away from your daily routine. Of course there are solutions like going on a nice vacation or spending a day at a spa with treatments and massages. If you don’t want to spend too much money on it but you are still looking for a relaxing day off, then why not having a spa day in your home? Here are five things for you to get away from it all but still staying at home:

  1. Plan your home spa day way ahead. Don’t schedule any other appointments or commitments. Turn off your phone or put it on silent at least. For this day, don’t set an alarm for the morning but just get out of bed whenever you wake up. Slip into your ladies slippers to give your feet a break from the usual business shoes. Wear whatever feels the most comfortable to you.
  2. Your first spa treatment of the day is perfect right after your breakfast because it includes your used ground coffee. It is also easy to prepare: Mix 1/4 cup olive oil, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 cup sugar, 15 drops peppermint essential oil and half a cup used ground coffee that you have just brewed. Take this scrub mix with you when you take a shower and rub it into your skin. When you are done carefully rinse it all off. After drying off the best is to apply some hydrating lotion on your skin.
  3. All through the day make sure that you drink a lot, preferably a lot of water and tea that help you to sit back and relax. Try to eat healthy meals such as grilled chicken, lentil soup, or salad. A great dessert or snack is a fresh fruit salad with all your favourite fruit.cucumber mask
  4. After having lunch the perfect next treatment is a cucumber mask. There are great ready-to-use mixes out there that just need to be put into a bowl and on to your face. Of course you can add some fresh cucumber slices for your eyes to give them the rest and hydration they need. You will see that such a mask will refresh you and will make your skin smoother.
  5. At the end of the day you should give yourself a nice and long bath in the tub to soothe your skin and relax your muscles. Get yourself an aroma bubble bath and enjoy the spa atmosphere in your bathroom. How about a fancy bath pillow that you can rest your head on and listen to your favourite music or read an inspiring book instead of your usual tabloids?

You will see after a day like this you will feel like a new person and you will be ready and full of energy to go back to your busy life!

A way to improve your health and the way you feel when you are not on a spa day is to drink warm and cool water/tea and to avoid cold drinks. Cold water dampens the digestive fire which means that your digestion won’t be working as effectively.
