In spring there are a lot of bank holidays. It is a wonderful time to spend a long weekend away from home. It is the perfect time for a city trip. How about a weekend with your significant other in the city of Love? Did you know Rome is great for shopping? How about sightseeing in Berlin or partying with friends in Barcelona? There is so much waiting for you!
Are you ready to go? Here
is a quick packing guide:
1. Take one casual and one stylish outfit per day: When going on a city trip you will end up sightseeing no matter what you have planed ahead. Make sure you have a comfortable outfit to walk around during the day. Just by changing your outfit you will feel refreshed whether you are going out for dinner, to a bar for a glass of wine or clubbing after a long day out.
2. Bring comfortable shoes: The right shoes are a key to enjoy your trip. You will walk a lot, if you are going to sightsee or shop. Make sure to bring a pair of comfortable flat shoes. Ballet shoes will do, but the best choice is sneakers. Do not bring new shoes they will only get you blisters on your feet. In addition consider to take a pair of shoes with heels to go out.
3. Toiletries bag with make-up, skin and sun cream: Think about bringing your cosmetics in miniature packages to take your suitcase as hand baggage. Remember that quantities of liquids, gels or pastes are not to extent 100 ml. Even if you have just a little bit left in your toothpaste of 250 ml, you might have to leave it behind at the airport.
4. Do not forget your toothbrush: After brushing teeth in the morning it is most likely to forget the toothbrush at home. I always pack my electric Sonicare toothbrush the night before or put a post-it on my entrance door as a reminder.
5. Pack your sunglasses: They are not only useful on a sunny day but give you a feeling of v
acation too.
6. Take an umbrella: There is a saying: “Sun is shining when angels travel”. However just in case bring a small umbrella with you. Some people might prefer a raincoat. Nothing is more annoying than having rainy weather and anything to protect you against it.
7. Buy a travel guide with a map: A travel guide is very important to get around if you have never been to a place before. Best for a city trip are small ones with insider tips and a removable map. Travel guides are great to take pleasure in your trip before going.
8. Essential are
passport, tickets and money: You can basically buy anything you left behind at home but a new passport. Make sure to lay it out at least the night before your trip. It can be costly to buy a new ticket and this will be impossible without money or credit card. Make sure you pack this trio before anything else!
9. A camera for memories: There are going to be a lot of new impressions to bring home with you. Taking photos is a great way to explore a city. My favorite camera is the Fujifilm Finepix j210w. It takes good pictures and has the perfect size to fit in my handbag easily. Photos are always great to share after the trip with your friends and family.
10. And a large handbag: It helps you to carry everything you need – your wallet and cell phone, a pen, tissues, lip gloss, your camera, a snack bar, a bottle of water and even an umbrella in case the weather forecast stands for rain. If you buy postcards and other small items you can make them fit too. It is perfect!
Least but not last important is to pick the right suitcase. You will wonder about the amount of cloth you want to bring for a short city trip. If you have one of the Samsonite suitcases with wheels, you do not have to worry about carrying it.
Now you are all set. Have fun and a safe trip!
Did you know?
A record for the fastest transatlantic flight from east to west was set by British Airways’ Concorde, making the trip from London Heathrow to New York JFK in 2 hours, 52 minutes, 59 seconds from takeoff to touchdown on 7 February 1996. Concorde remains a symbol of great national pride to many in the UK and France; in France it was thought of as a French aircraft, in the UK as British.
