I don’t like perfumeries. My distaste simply results from the perfumeries’ frontal attack on my senses. I am just overwhelmed by the huge variety of fragrances and millions of colourful flasks. As I am overstrained, I am not able to decide on one fragrance. So shopping for a perfume is mostly disappointing. If this sounds familiar, you should read on.
Along the 5 different fragrance notes — floral, aquatic, citrus, fruity and oriental – I compiled a list of fragrances that might be interesting for you.
First of all, you should know your preferred fragrance note to find your perfume of the season.
1. Floral
Floral fragrances are blended with scents of different notes such as melon, apple and bluebells. It is the most popular feminine fragrance and appeals to women of all ages. Parfum D’Été by Kenzo is the perfect summer perfume. This Kenzo fragrance combines notes of galbanum, greens, reseda, carnation, hyacinth and rose. You can use it for casual wear and evening wear as well—and in the cold season it brings back sweet summer memories.
2. Aquatic
Aquatic fragrances are a relatively new category in perfume history. Freshness and Crispness define these fragrances very well. They are also connected with activity and liveliness as they create a fragrance reminiscent of a cold splash of water or a refreshing dip in the pool.
Blue by Ralph Lauren, introduced in 2003, has an aquatic and refreshing aroma. It is a blend of soft florals with watery freshness to top it off. This refreshing aroma cools you down on a hot summer day.
3. Citrus
Citrus fragrances belong to a rather old fragrance family. These perfumes contain predominant notes of citrus and fruit oils, including lemon, orange, peach, apricot, lime and grapefruit. They tend to be light and juicy. Colonia Assoluta by Acqua Di Parma offers a bouquet of crisp citrus essences such as sweet orange, bitter orange of Sicilia, bergamot and verbena, with warmer spicy notes of cardamom, pink peppercorns and paprika. Colonia Assoluta is a somewhat timeless fragrance dedicated to men and women. It made his first appearance more than 100 years ago. So if you are looking for something very special, this is it.
4. Fruity
Fruity fragrances are most popular among younger women and teenagers. They have a very refreshing note and feature the aromas of fruits other than citrus, such as peach, cassis, mango and passion fruit. If you like the smell of freshly cut fruits combined with a sweet note, then Heiress by Paris Hilton might be a good match. It is an inexpensive choice for a light summer feeling. Let your days be accompanied by a combination of passion fruit, orange, peach granite, champagne mimosa and many other fruity ingredients.
5. Oriental
Traditional oriental fragrances are exotic, sensual and heavy. They contain oriental resins, exotic flowers, vanilla and musk. Oriental perfumes are also known as “amber” fragrances and are often associated with exotic floral and spicy scents. Opium by Yves Saint Laurent is a classic and that’s why it found its way in this top list. Introduced in 1977, it has not lost any of its fascination. The Opium perfume contains sandalwood, incense and vanilla. As this scent is quite strong, it is not suitable for people who prefer “lighter” perfumes.
Now choosing a perfume should be a piece of cake. Personally, I am rather a floral fragrance type and tend to choose fresh scents. Here my preferred fragrance is the timeless Chanel perfume that offers a great variety of fresh, floral scents. Launched for the first time in the 1920s, it is always a good choice. Millions of women can’t be wrong.
Did you know?
