There is no way around it, at one point you have to travel with your baby. Maybe it is a short trip to the grand parents or a longer trip for vacation or friends who live far away. Make the trip with your baby a wonderful experience. It doesn’t have to be exhausting and stressful for you. Here is a list with things you should consider while packing your baby’s bag. The proper planning and preparation can make the whole trip a piece of cake.

1. Baby Travel System

First you need a good baby travel system. It is very practically, versatile and comfortable. For example the car seat from the TS2 Travel system baby travel systemfrom Babystyle fits directly from the car to the pushchair with an easy one clock fit. The wheels are highly maneuverable which makes every strolling and shopping trip a smooth experience. The stroller converts to a pram style pushchair when fitted with the liner in some simple steps. Additionally it consists of a lightweight aluminum frame that is easy to carry around. In conclusion it is a great system for travelling, check it out.

2. Diapers, wipes, and toiletries

Usually you can buy your brand of diapers everywhere even when travelling abroad. But pack enough so this isn’t the first thing after your arrival to look for. Just in case bring more than you think you’ll need. It is easier to get disposable ones for your trip then you don’t have to worry about cleaning them and taking them back. If your baby is sensitive to new products bring your one toiletries (diaper cream, baby wash, baby lotion), so you don’t have to introduce your baby to new products for the time abroad. Pack some plastic bags for garbage, they don’t take up space and you never know when you’ll need them.

3. Baby blanket

When you travel with your baby there is a lot of new things for the baby to take in, the new environment, different scents and different people. Some babies use pacifiers and others use blankets as self-soothing items. The reassuring scent of your baby’s own blanket will give him comfort in the new environment. Also his sleep will be better surrounded by touching and feeling his own blanket.

4. Travel bed

When your baby starts to move around and cannot sleep in your bed because it keeps you awake, start to look for a travel bed. They are functional and finished solidly. Some of them come with a foldable main frame, mattress pad, slip through with zipper, two lockable wheels for easy movement and a carry bag. It comes handy and you want your baby to have a good night sleep during your vacation.

5. Baby footmuff

baby footmuffA footmuff is a perfect pushchair accessory. If you have a baby jogger and you are going to the beach a footmuff keeps the baby warm while you enjoy the waves and the breeze. The footmuffs are cosy and spacious and make sure that the baby gets easily in and out when necessary. They come in all kinds of colours and even polka dots.

6. Clothing

Pack your baby clothes according to the weather forecast at your destination. Long-sleeved clothes should be in your bag even in a warmer climate. While you wear your shorts and a top your baby might needs something warmer in the shade. Also the nights can be very cool and your baby is more sensitive to it. It could be helpful if you check online if there are laundry facilities close by. Then you can pack half as many outfits and clean them in between if space in your luggage is an issue. Plan for two outfits per day and you are on the safe side.

7. Food and drink

Food and drinks are very important when travelling with a baby. If you still nurse it then it is a bit easier for you. You want to pack your nursing cover, pads and a bottle to put some juice or water for the baby. The bottle filled with juice or water keeps your baby hydrated in between feedings on a longer trip.
If your baby eats purees and baby snacks make sure you pack enough for the trip. Additionally you need to pack bibs, and spoons. Take a few spoons with you in case you drop one accidently.

8. Toys

When it comes to toys, just take a few favourite ones. We tend to pack more than the child actually needs. Small babies are easily amused by a ball or a cup. If you already have some toys that are attached to the car seat or stroller that would be perfect. The baby can play with them while you stroll through the streets and enjoy sightseeing.

9. First aid supplies

A mum is always prepared for the worst. So add some first aid items you think could be helpful if something happens. Or buy a baby aid compact first aid kit that contains everything from basic plasters to burn gel. Alcohol free cleansing wipes will always be used so take some additional with you. If you buy a kit then check what’s in it and what else you need to bring. Always have sun screen with you to protect your baby.

10. Safe travels

Having a baby doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy travelling anymore. If you are well prepared and you make a list in advance then you won’t be stressed. Use this list as a beginning and then add things you know your baby will need when going on a trip with the family. Have a safe trip.
