Theme Parties are always a lot of fun. From the preparation to the actual evening, hosting a black and white theme party can be a great experience. Many other theme parties will follow this one.

1. Invitations

Black and white parties are easy to prepare and also for your guests it is not so difficult to come up with a nice costume. First you need to create invitation that also function as VIP passes to enter your party. Use your imagination and create some nice invitation in black and white. Be strict black chiffon dressabout the dress code and mention that in the invitation. Everyone must wear black, white or both; otherwise they can’t enter the party.

2. Decoration

Decorate your rooms with newspapers, white and black curtains. Put on the table white table clothes and set up a big screen where you will show some classic black and white movies. Be creative! There are great silent movies with Charlie Chaplin or show Casablanca if you want a real classic, whatever you feel your guests would like. Roll out a black or white carpet instead of the red one to welcome your guests at the door and put them in the right mood.

3. Food

The food is always important. Think about some great dishes that are black and white. Go to the store and look for: black olives, caviar, white fish, rice, pasta in cream sauce, hard boiled eggs. Even the dessert doesn’t have to be boring, think about marshmallows, white cookies, vanilla pudding and fresh coconut.

4. Drinks

For non alcoholic drinks mix some vanilla milk shakes.
Check online some nice recipes for cocktails, for example a nice martini with a black olive. White and Black Russians are also a great drink at any party.

Ingredients for a Black Russian:
-    1 3/4 oz vodka

2.    Stir well

Ingredients for a White Russian:
2 oz vodka
1 oz coffee liquer
Light cream

1.    Pour vodka and coffee liquer over ice cubes in an old-fashioned glass.
2.    Fill with light cream and serve.

5. Save the memories

If you don’t want to worry about taking pictures the whole night, then hire a photographer who takes photos of your guests in black and white. It is a great gift to send around afterwards. If you want to save some moneys then buy disposable cameras with black and white film in them and put them everywhere so your guests can pick them up and take some memorable pictures.

6. Music

The success of a good party relies on good music. Play some great songs like “Black and White” by INXS or “Black or White” by Michael Jackson. It shouldn’t be so difficult to make your playlist with some great theme songs. Here are some more ideas: AC/DCs “Black in Black”, Billy Idols “White Wedding” and Paul McCartney’s “Ebony and Ivory”. If you type it into a search engine machine you will fine even more.

7. Attireblack wedge boot

Don’t worry about the attire for your guests, you mentioned it in the invitation. And for yourself you should think about wearing a black chiffon dress with a white flower in your hair. Add some black frame eye glasses that give you a sophisticated look. And of course some beautiful black wedge boot for a long dance night that give you the height but not the pain of stilettos. For the gentlemen the dress code should be easy. Black pants, white shirt and a fantastic looking black tie and they are fully dressed.

8. Party Games

If you and your guests like to play some party games then think about some nice easy games that keeps the crowd entertained. Divide your guests into two teams: a white team and a black team. Blow up some black and white balloons in advance. Blindfold the players and tell them that they must only hit their team’s colour. If the white team hits black balloons, they are out and the other way around. Last person wins for himself or for his team.

9. Miscellaneous

The most important thing is that you don’t stress yourself too much during the preparation time. A party should be fun and not too much of an effort. Just think about what would make the party special and what do you think would be fun. You can also involve your best friend in the brain storming part to come up with some great ideas.

10. Last but not least

Enjoy your party!

Did you know?

Chiffon is from the French word for a cloth or rag. It is made from cotton, silk, or synthetic fibres. Under a magnifiying glass Chiffon resembles a fine net or mesh which gives chiffon some see-through properties. Chiffon is most commonly used in evening wear.
