Shopping Tips that make your Sofa Purchase easier

sofa with cushionLast week, one of my girlfriends called me asking if I had time over the weekend. “I need your advice because we’re going sofa shopping!” she said. I was totally excited. I love furniture shopping. My friend has a small flat and just moved into the city. So her old sofa was too big for the new flat.

We talked about what she wanted and what would fit in the apartment. We made a date for Saturday. First we had a nice breakfast in the sun and coffee to wake us up and then we got ready for a long shopping day. We proceeded to hit the stores. I told my friend that she had to sit on the sofa just to make sure they weren’t too soft or too firm. Furthermore, it is important to check the arm rests. Are they too high? We made sure to check the back cushions to see if they forced you upright or if you’d get lost in them because they’re too soft.

My friend’s wish list wasn’t that long. All she wanted was a cheap sofa with cushions. In terms of style she wanted something contemporary and not traditional. We’re still young, right? With measuring tape around my neck, I tried to make sure that the sofa fit in the corner of her flat where she wanted it. Sometimes the sofa appears small in the store that’s why you should measure it every time.small leather sofa

By the end of the day, my friend decided that a small leather sofa is what she wanted. Leather lasts longer and looks good. A leather sofa could be the main luxurious piece in your living room. Invest in quality because you will enjoy it for a very long time.

After we tried all the sofas and took pictures of them, we couldn’t remember all of them after such a long day. We went home, I made some tea and we sat down and compared prices online. For furniture, online shopping makes a huge difference. You can find great deals online and the shipping is sometimes free. That makes it a lot easier for my friend to get the leather sofa with cushions of her dreams.

Did you know?

A study suggests that more than a quarter of young people (28 per cent) do not expect to be able to move out of their parent’s home until after the age of 25, and the problem worst in London.
