A comfortable bed is essential for a good night’s sleep. When choosing a bed the most important fact is to focus on the mattress. However, design of the frame matters most for the decor of your bedroom. Many different styles and materials give you a large variety of beds to choose from.

Metal bed frames are my favourite as they are stylish and timeless. What I like about those beds is that they come in many styles and therefore can be combined easily with antiques, modern, vintage or romantic design. Different colours add to a rich variety. My personal choice is the white gloss finish as this is a neutral colour. You can simply add colour through pillows, covers or bed sheets.

Metal bed frames are available in different sizes from small single beds for children up to super king size beds. A metal single bed with a frame can be used for children or it can make a great couch in your living room. To do so, choose a bed with a frame on both ends and on one side, take some large pillows and put them to the back and both sides. This makes a stylish couch which can be used as a daybed for guests, too.

As many people have one room which is used as study and guestroom at the same time a single metal bed frame as a daybed is a good choice. It does not take up much space, can be used for relaxing as well as sleeping and looks very fashionable.

Did you know?
The saying “sleep tight” originated in times when mattresses were set upon ropes woven through the bed frame. One would use a bed key to tighten the rope when they were sagging.
