Summer time means festival time! This week the Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts in South West England takes place again. The events at the Festival began the day after Jimi Hendrix died in 1970. 40 years later this festival grew to the largest open-air music and performing arts festival in the world. There is something for everybody like contemporary music, features dance, comedy, theatre, circus and cabaret. Last year a record number of 90,396 festival-goers celebrated music and arts.
Watch this little movie to get an impression of last year’s Festival:
This year bands like the Gorillaz, George Clinton with Parliament/Funkadelic will perform as well as Stevie Wonder and Snoop Dog. You can hang out at the Acoustic Stage or East Dance versus West Dance. There is so much to do in those few days.
What do you need if you decide to go to a festival? Two things are necessary: a tent and a sleeping bag. The Gelert Quick Pitch tent is the perfect festival and camping tent. The name already implies that it pitches in just a few seconds which every camper appreciates who has to build a tent in the rain. It comes also in a wide range of designs and colours.
It is very nice to have a rug to sit on in front of the tent having breakfast and watching the sun rise or the opposite watching the sun set and talking with friends about the great day of musical performances. What I appreciate is PVC waterproof backing so that your rug doesn’t get wet and cold. The Gelert picnic rug comes with that and has soft webbing carry handle which makes it easy to carry it to any picnic.
The last thing you need to have a great time at a music festival this summer is a rucksack that has a lot of space for the clothes, the cooking things, shoes etc. The Gelert rucksack comes in different volumes up to 85 litre. Carrying a backpack could be really exhausting so be aware that it is already light without anything.
Now you have a nice rucksack, a tent, sleeping bag, a rug to sit outside and you are ready for a wonderful summer of music. Enjoy!
Did you know?
The tickets for the 2010 Glastonbury had sold out in less than 24 hours from being released for sale. The line up of bands is amazing as every year. Pack your rucksack and enjoy some good music outdoors.
