Most people have some form of art in their homes today, whether it is a painting on the wall, or a nice piece of sculpture sitting on the mantelpiece. Despite the current economical climate, art is still important. It can be a means of escape for some people, looking at a landscape painting and thinking about being there. For others, art is just aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
Often if you see a painting on someone’s wall, it is a form of landscape or flowers, something that looks nice and homely. This type of work seems to sell better, because of the
aesthetic reasons. Having said this, there are some people who would prefer a piece of abstract work hanging on their wall, or a portrait of themselves painted by an artist. Owning a piece of art in your house can be as expensive or inexpensive as you wish. You can simply go to a home store and pick up a relatively cheap canvas to hang on your wall the same day. It is also possible to commission an artist to paint a piece of art exactly as you require. Of course this is the more expensive option, and is time consuming, but in the end, you have one piece of work done exactly as you want to have in your very own home.
It is well worth investing in art as this makes your home decor unique. Paintings can beautifully reflect sentiments and give your home that je ne sais quoi. Picture frames can enhance the artwork. Sometimes a painting even comes into its own by choosing an appropriate picture frame.
Did you know?
One of the earliest picture frame examples was discovered in an Egyptian tomb dating back to 2nd century A.D. It was a fayum mummy portrait within a wooden frame. Experts suggest that the portrait may have been hung in the owners’ homes prior to the funeral.
