As a fashion blogger, I thought I’d make this a post about the five fashion essentials you’ll need this summer to look great.

Wedges

Wedges are the perfect summer footwear. Not only do they give you the extra height of heels, they are also very comfortable.  Some of them have a really cool retro vibe to them, and retro always looks good. They can look really cute with a pair of jeans or even a skirt, so they are one thing that you can truly wear all summer, no matter the occasion. Schuh are doing some really adorable wedges right now, which will look great this season.

Playsuit

Playsuits are all over the festivals this year. I, myself, wore it when I went to Lovebox and loved it. Even the likes of Sienna Miller are wearing cute ones to festivals and even for more casual occasions, such as shopping. Playsuits have all the flatter of a dress, but none of the embarrassment for if there’s a sudden gust of wind. All the shops are doing really great ones at the moment, so they’re easy to get. For the summer, I definitely recommend getting a playsuit, instead of a jumpsuit, as they look much better and keep your legs free.

White dress

This is the perfect summer alternative to the LBD, which is iconic. It can be a bit hot to wear in the summer, which is why the little white dress was invented. They have a perfect feminine feel to them and will look great at barbeques or picnics in the park. They are light to wear and will go perfect with a pair of flats.

High-waisted shorts

I definitely wish I had the legs to pull this look off because it’s an amazing trend for the summer. Like wedges, these definitely have a retro feel to them as well. The nautical trend is a big one this season as well, and this fits in well with that trend as well. You can wear them with a striped tee, tucked in, for a perfect, chilled out, look.

Straw Hat

This is an unlikely trend, but is another one that is all over the festivals. I’m not usually one for hats, but I absolutely love them. They look very cool and give you a very classic look. I know lots of girls who tend to stay away from hats but these can look very girly, if you get a good one.  Both Marks & Spencer and Topshop are doing nice ones that can be worn this season.

Did you know?

The word posh originated when tickets for the cabins on the left side of the ships going to the Orient were more expensive because the cabins where in the shade while passing the Mediterranean and Suez area. On the return to Europe the cabins on the right, or starboard where in the shade and more comfortable for the passengers. So the tickets were marked with the initials for Port Outbound Starboard Homebound, or POSH.
