Buying Guide on finding the right Digital Camera for You

Posted in Tech

I think I am not just speaking for myself when I’m saying that buying a digital camera can be quite overwhelming. There are so many different cameras, brands, or accessories out there which makes it hard to decide what to get. We have prepared a short guide to lead you back on the right track and to get the right camera for you:

14 megapixel digital cameraFirst of all you should think about what you will need your camera for. Is it for walking around in the city and taking snap shots? Or do you rather want to take high-qualitative pictures that you can print out on posters? Also what is your budget and how much money are you willing to spend on a new camera? If you prefer the best quality and money is not a question then a 14 megapixel digital camera is the best fit for you. All the major manufacturers such as Panasonic, Canon, Fuji, or Olympus have one in their program. For example, the Canon Powershot SX210 is very compact and has an improved Auto function so you don’t have to think much when you take a picture. It even lets you record videos in HD quality which will have a professional look thanks to the Dynamic Optical Image Stabiliser.

On the other hand, if you just want to take quick shots that you are going to show your friends on your phone or laptop, then a lot of pixel don’t make sense for you. Save the money and rather spend on some great digital camera accessories. For example, you can get a bigger memory card, spare batteries, charger, or a camera case.

Another great accessory especially for the summer is a digital camera underwater housing. It allows you to take the digital camera into the water- either for fun shots with your kids in the pool or when you go snorkeling or scuba-diving. Those waterproof cases are usually antifog, with double-glass windows and a special flash diffusion plate.

When you decide what kind of camera you want to get you can choose between a Single Lens Reflex (SLR) Camera or a Point and Shoot Camera. You should keep in mind that a SLR is usually more expensive, bigger, heavier, and more complicated than Point and Shoot Digital Cameras.

If you pay attention to small details then a good optical zoom will be very helpful. The big difference between a digital and an optical zoom is that the digital zoom only makes the pixels larger so the object looks bigger but it also gets more pixelated.
