It’s all good and proper buying yourself a brand new LCD HD television, a blue-ray player and perhaps an Xbox 360, but don’t forget you also need somewhere to put it! You could place it on top of an unused table, or perhaps find an unused chest. But I would highly recommend you buy yourself a proper media unit. A practical and durable tv cabinet will go a long way to improving your entertainment needs as well as offering fantastic storage space for all your electronic needs.
The main thing to consider when making this kind of purchase is size – not simply the size of the television you’ll be putting in or on it, but also the size of the room in which you’ll be
putting the unit. You don’t want the media unit to be overbearing, but at the same time you wouldn’t want it too small. You also want to think about what material you want your tv cabinet to be made from. The primary choices are wood, plastic or metal, and it all depends on the style and decor of your living room.
A nice little extra would be to get a tv cabinet with doors. This could mean doors below the television in which you can store your games console, blue-rays or other accessories; alternatively, it could mean doors which, when closed, hide the tv from sight. This is appropriate for those who may not watch television too much, and would therefore like to keep it out of sight for most of the time. Whatever decision you come to, a media unit or tv cabinet is a great extra to provide your living room with that extra special touch.
Did you know?
In the popular tv show Friends, Joey decides to build his own media unit…with awful consequences. It is far too big for the apartment, so they decide to sell it. Joey proves the size of the unit to a potential buyer by getting in himself. The buyer then traps Joey in and burgles the entire apartment!
