There’s three ways I believe you can approach a situation. You can either accept the situation, deal with it or remove yourself from it. I don’t know where you people live but I’m assuming that wherever you are, you’ve gotten used to going outside and doing stuff even when the weather isn’t ideal. Or, maybe you’ve developed quick reflexes and flexibility; you make plans, ignoring the weather and eventually, when it’s sunny (2 weeks out of the year) you cancel all of them and go have a holiday in the park.
Eventually though, it wears on you, and that’s why a full holiday is a good option from time to time. If you’re heading out to a more sultry landscape (mmmm, the Madeira Island) make sure you’ve updated your travel gear. I would suggest investing in some Antler Duolite trolley cases for your trip. They roll on a sturdy pair of wheels and have a push-lock telescopic handle so the only luggage you’ll feel you are dragging around will be from the local cuisine (remember to get your shots and stay away from the water if you’re going exotic). The main compartment is also expandable so you can buy a lot of souvenirs for the folks back home who didn’t make it out.
Lightweight is a buzzword you hear thrown around for many products, and I’m also going to throw it around here. The Antler Duolite is ultra lightweight, but Samsonite is another brand, probably just as lightweight, to go with for your holiday luggage needs; Samsonite lightweight luggage doesn’t compromise space capability either. Many of them come in trolley form with expandable compartments like the Antler Duolite. The main difference is that the Samsonite brands are bit more expensive.
If, however, you’ve decided to stay put and deal with the weather, I would suggest some waterproof clothing; something lightweight (again that word) and breathable because you never know when it’s going to pour. I’ve got a spot for North face and I would recommend The North Face men’s resolve waterproof jacket if you’re going to be stoic with your holidays this year.
Whatever you decide, and wherever you go good luck finding bargains on your gear.

The Madeira island is home to three endemic bird species: Zino’s Petrel, the Trocaz Pigeon and the Madeira Firecrest.
