Have you decided on your Halloween costume yet? If you leave it to the last minute and throw something together seconds before heading out, chances are you will end up as a witch. Or a princess. Or a zombie. Or a zombie princess/witch. I’m not judging, I’ve done it too. In fact, I’ll do it again this year. Here is my foolproof recipe for a quick Halloween costume:
First, take a long sleeve black dress. Remember, you only have minutes, so grab the first thing your hand hits. Just make sure it has long sleeves. Next, pin small hair elastics to the top inside centre of the cuffs and pull them down around your middle finger. You now have slightly sinister medieval princess sleeves. Long sleeve dresses look great with tights and boots, so throw on some striped tights if you’ve got ’em, and pointy black patent boots for a witch vibe.
Now tackle hair and makeup. If, by any awesomeness of fate, you have a Cruella de Vil streak in your hair, you should enhance the shine naturally with grey hair shampoos.
Otherwise, spray on some silver hair spray for the walking dead look. Cap it off with a white face – you can mix your normal foundation with sunscreen to make it super light, which is much kinder to your skin than that white paint stuff – and maybe a mole or two in eyeliner near your mouth. Why hello…my little zombie princess/witch.
Quick and dirty, right? But effective. You most likely have all of the clothing items somewhere in the back of your wardrobe already, and the messier the hair and makeup the better, so it should only take you minutes to get ready. Happy Halloween!
