Bathroom Accessory Essentials

The bathroom has a long history as being a place of rejuvenation and relaxation. Think of Rome and Greece and the communal bathhouses that were central to their society. People would go here to relax and enjoy each other’s company, talking about the latest cultural and political topics. Think of the religious and mythological stories: the bathing of Homer’s heroes, of the Fountain of Youth, of Achilles’ immortality gained through the River Styx and Jesus’ baptism.

The bath isn’t such a combathroom matmunal place any more. Outside of Japanese spas, the bath has become a private space. The bathroom is less a playground/library/art gallery/gymnasium as it was in the Roman days, and more of an altar. Every day we make our pilgrimage to the bathroom to wash away our old selves and welcome the new. Sometimes, after an especially rough day we slink over to the bathroom, crouching on the bathroom mat in supplication, hoping the warm waters will melt our tension away. Or, after an especially fun and recklessly inebriated night, a cold shower acts as the perfect sermon for ousteel shower caddyr sins.

Being such an important and holy room of relaxation and rejuvenation, you need to make sure your bathroom sanctuary is stocked appropriately. An array of aromatic bath salts and a quart or two of Epsom salts is important to have on hand for the occasional relaxing bath. A stainless steel shower caddy is a good accessory to have for housing your various shampoos, shower gels and whatnots. Also, buying yourself a quality waterproof electric razor is imperative if, like me, you wake up with only 30 minutes before you need to be at work. Try a Braun Razor like the Braun Wet and Dry series 3 380-3 for your last minute, clean shaven needs.

Americans call the loo the bathroom, even if there is no bath or shower included in the room
