If you have absolutely no idea what to get your loved ones this Christmas, do not worry, you are not the only one. Hopefully I can help you out a little bit with a couple of different ideas for Christmas gifts. Studies have shown that smell is one of the most common triggers for memories, so a great place to start would be with a gift set filled with lotions, bath oils and fresh perfume. Of course, it can be very difficult to determine what scent she may or may not like and the buying process can get fairly complicated and stressful. Scents come in a wide variety of styles with everything from heavier wood based fragrances to light flower and fruit based fragrances. In the end, I would trust my instincts and go with a subtle yet flavourful scent that is not too overpowering. Here is a list of some of my favourites from when I worked in the fragrance department a few years back:

Thierry Mugler Angel Perfume. With a base of vanilla it has a rather rich and unique scent to it that is complimented very nicely by the softer undertones of various fruit flavours such as plums, melons and citrus. While it is not great for the upcoming cold season, this fragrance is perfect for a hot summer day as it is not too heavy and does not react too strongly to sweat and heat. I have always been a fan of fruity blends over a vanilla base and in this case it is no different.

Burberry Brit. Burberry uses vanilla as a base in a number of different scents, including Burberry Brit, London and Summer. As I stated before, it is a great base with a rich and bold flavour to it that is not too overpowering. Unlike the Angel Perfume, Brit is a bit heavier and strives in the colder romantic seasons and in the evening time. With a hint of lime, it has a little bit of pop to it, but it is by no means a light scent.

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue. Let us get away from the vanilla based fragrances for a moment; Light Blue offers a much lighter and more fruitful flavour than the previous two fragrances. With a base of citrus, apples and an assortment of light spices and flowers it is a great spring time fragrances. The jasmine gives it an airy feel, while the various fruits add sweetness to the mixture.
