Create extra kitchen space

It’s a pain shopping for large appliances.  There’s always a heightened possibility of dimensions not working out, and you end up stressing about the room – or lack thereof – in your kitchen.  Plus with rounds of holiday dinners and get-togethers right around the corner now, your kitchen is sure to get loads of traffic.  It might even be your central gathering place.  Make life a little easier and a lot roomier for yourself by shopping for appliances that specifically make the most of your space.induction hobs

One fantastic tactic for gaining extra counter area is using induction stoves.  They are flat stoves that heat your pots or cooking vessels directly.  Since the stove itself doesn’t heat up very much,  the induction hobs cool off quickly and the flat stove can be used as regular counter space in a pinch.  Most induction stoves feature touch control and safety locks, so there’s no danger of heating anything unintentionally.  And since they heat cooking vessels directly, there’s minimal ambient heat loss.  You officially save energy as well as space!

under counter fridge freezerAnother great tactic for gaining extra space is using an under counter fridge freezer.  It’s such a shame when the hollow space under counters is wasted, especially when you can easily fit a useful appliance there.  A mini fridge or freezer under the counters where you are preparing food is convenient for keeping your ingredients properly chilled until you need them.  It doesn’t take up any extra space, since the area under your counters is usually empty anyway, but it gives you tons of extra storage.  Some people use their mini fridges exclusively for drinks or for leftovers, or even to separate more pungent foods from the main fridge, so it can be a useful organisational tool as well as a space saver.

What other appliances have helped you to save kitchen space?
