Hiding your Christmas gifts

storage bedsYou have amassed tons of gifts for your family and friends…now where are you going to store them until Christmas Eve?  They aren’t safe in the guest room, and everybody always checks the attic and basement.  So why not take advantage of Christmas deals on your own behalf?  Look for deals on furniture to give you subtle storage room, such as ingenious storage beds.

Any run-of-the-mill gift sleuth would look under the bed, but would he look in the bed?  Storage beds are a great way to take advantage of existing space in your bedroom without adding to standing furniture.  Hide your gifts in the roomy drawers at the base of the bed, which in most cases are strategically positioned so that you can open them without hitting any bedside furniture.  Another storage bed option is the top lifting kind, which allows you to make use of the entire underneath area.  They are surprisingly easy to lift because of smooth action pistons, so weight will never restrict you from accessing the space.  Storage beds are also a wonderful way to keep your clothes out of the way while the weather is changing, but easily reachable on unseasonable days.  It’s a great storage solution for all purposes.

black wardrobesWhile you’re looking at extra storage, you might as well check for deals on small wardrobes.  They are another clever way to create extra storage space, and with holiday savings they are a worthwhile addition to your decor.  Most rooms can easily fit another small wardrobe, and you’d be surprised at how much you can squeeze into one if you fill it strategically.  It’s highly doubtful that anyone would rifle through your innocent old clothes, so tuck your gifts into the back for safekeeping.  If you want to minimise the visual impact of your wardrobe, choose black wardrobes.  They tend to look smaller than they are, and they give rooms a neat, modern vibe.

Do you have any tried and true hiding places for your gifts?

Did you know?

The size of wardrobes used to be determined by the “eight small men” method, as in, eight small men should be able to fit inside.
