Just because the winter weather is keeping you indoors and you don’t want to spend big sums of money on a NordicTrack treadmill or an expensive gym membership doesn’t mean you can’t whip yourself into shape with minimal fuss. A lack of money or time should never be an excuse not to achieve fitness goals, or to keep up with your New Year’s resolution to get in shape. Here are some very simple, low cost ways to get an efficient home workout.
Indoor Bike Trainer
Cycling is a great way to stay in shape, but winter puts a serious damper on getting out and actually riding. Conventional wisdom says that an expensive magnetic exercise bike is the only way to hit the pedals in the dreary winter months. But have you ever thought of an indoor bike trainer?
Odds are you probably own at least a functional bicycle, and that’s all you really need. There are many indoor bike trainers available, but my personal favourite is the Bell Motivator. With no assembly required, you simply put your back wheel into the system, and you’re ready to ride. The magnetic resistance adjusts to your cadence and speed, increasing the resistance as you push the tempo. With little money invested, you’ve got yourself a high end stationary bike.
Simple Home Gym Equipment
Whether you are a hardened gym rat looking to supplement a missed workout, or you’d like to do some basic strength training, a simple home gym can afford you quite an efficient workout. If you scour the web, you’ll be surprised to see how many great workouts can be achieved with minimal equipment, and in under an hour. All you really need is a weight bench, some dumbbells, and a pull up bar.
Did you know?
A Euro stat survey said that Brits spend an average of 45% of their free time watching television. There’s plenty of time for a workout somewhere in there.
