If you’re just itching for spring and summer to arrive, we have another reason to intensify the excitement: the Texas-themed Spring/Summer 2011 OPI nail polish collection. Clear out your overflowing bathroom cabinet and make room for these must-have new additions! You’ll be ripping off your leather gloves just so everyone can see your traffic-stopping manicure.

The colours are, as one of the colours is called, “Too Hot Pink to Hold ‘Em”. Not all of the colours are hot pink of course, there are also gorgeous berry shades, blues, tangerines and corals, a green, a chocolate, and a tan. All of the colours have those signature clever names though. There’s “Guy Meets Gal-veston”; “San Tan-tonio”; “Y’all Come Back Ya Hear?”; “Big Hair…Big Nails”; “I Vant To Be A-Lone Star”; “It’s Totally Fort Worth It”; Austin-tatious Turquoise”; and “Houston We Have a Purple”, among other cute names.

OPI’s website lets you virtually try on all of these colours. You can also learn from their “How-To” section that starting with a base coat on clean, dry nails will help your manicure last longer. For a perfect polish, it’s best to stroke the brush down the centres of the nails. Then apply another stroke to each side. Next, apply another coat of polish, pulling the colour over the ends of your nails. Clean up any of your outside-the-lines painting with a cuticle stick dipped in nail polish remover. Then you’ll be ready to protect your handiwork by applying a top coat to seal in colour. If impeccable cuticles are important to you, you can apply a drop of cuticle oil to each one, and finally, apply two drops of OPI DripDry Lacquer Drying Drops. No one likes waiting an age for a manicure to dry.
