Coming from an Indian family, I am constantly eating rice. It seems to make its way into just about every meal that I eat. My grandmother prefers to use traditional methods of cooking her rice, like using a cooking pot on the stove, but you do not need to follow suit. One of my personal favourite kitchen appliances is the rice cooker. It is very simple and for somebody who is not exactly a master chef, it makes it nearly impossible to mess up. The instructions go no further than having you fill the cooker with water and then throwing in your rice when it gives you the green light. As a university student, I have always been a fan of the simple gadgets, especially when it comes to cooking.
Apart from being very simple to use, it cooks it as quick as ever and you do not need to keep an eye on it. Simply throw in your rice and hop in the shower or get the rest of your dish organized and before you know it, it will be done. The best part is that if you end up getting caught up or preoccupied with something else, the rice cooker will simply shut off and resort to its “keep warm function.” In conclusion, it is the ideal appliance for anybody who wants to keep things simple around the kitchen.
