Classic California Style: Converse Hi-Tops

Certain items of clothing will remain forever timeless and have the staying power to outlast many fashion trends. The white crew-neck t-shirt, blue jeans, black leather jacket, and Ray Ban sunglasses are perfect examples of clothing items that have withstood decades of fads and trends. Another enduring style is Converse Chuck Taylor Hi Tops. Light, comfortable, and eternally fashionable these shoes go with any number of styles.

Converse began making rubber-soled sports shoes in 1908, and gained notoriety for their prevalent use in basketball. The shoe then spread to the American youth in the 1950’s and has been linked with Rock and Roll ever since. Athletes, musicians, movie stars, motorcyclists, surfers, and just about everyone else has incorporated this shoe into their wardrobe, and with its simple versatility it’s easy to see why. And at a price that shames other shoe makers, converse is a cheap and chic alternative to pricier brands.

The same workmanship is still put into today’s converse which feature a canvas upper with a vulcanized construction and classic rubber outsole. Different patterns, colors, and styles are available, as are the traditional black, red, white and navy colour ways that seem to go with everything. Whether it’s a casual Friday at the office or a dressed down night on the town, Converse are the perfect footwear compliment to any wardrobe. The fact that some people have been known to even wear Chuck Taylors with tuxedos and gowns to formal occasions are a testament to the shoe’s universal appeal and stylish versatility.
